Individual singing preferences poll, sent by Matt Libby on 03/25/2004:

You (the recipients of this message) are all of the Cross Products alums who have responded that will they definitely be participating in the alumni singing for the 15th Anniversary Concert (Sat., May 15).

Thank you for taking the time to contact me and for your willingness to be part of the effort (& the fun).

----

I need you all to do the following:

(1) Take a look at the songs that we have selected for performance; you can find them on the "support web site", at the URL

    http://mlibby.net/hasBeen/#songs.

If you want to hear what a particular song sounds like, some of the songs listed there have links to MIDI and NWC files (instructions about those file formats are available right there on the site). The username and password to access the song files (or any other information on the support site) are ******** and ********, respectively [ed.: contact Matt Libby to get the username and password].

(2) Take a look at some guidelines I have written up, at the URL

    http://mlibby.net/hasBeen/information.php

especially the part about "Do I have to already know / remember a song to sing on it?", which is at the URL

http://mlibby.net/hasBeen/information.php#qualification

(3) Decide which of these songs you would definitely want to sing on, and [***IMPORTANT***] send the list of songs to me in an email. Use the questionnaire thing below.

----

Please check one column for each song. If you have any additional comments, please add them in a way that makes it clear what song you're talking about.

Remember that we will not be singing all of these songs; some will be eliminated.

----

The list of songs that you send to me will not be the absolute final word on the songs that we'll be asking you to sing (it's likely that we'll still be "drafting" some people to fill missing voice parts on certain songs), but getting these lists should go a long way towards helping us figure out who's going to be working on each song (and that's the critical piece of information that we're missing right now).

So thank you for sending your list to me, and please be patient as we sort this stuff out over the next few days. We definitely want to make sure that people get to sing on the songs that they want to sing on, and we'll try to work with everybody to make sure that things turn out great (you could be praying for us a little bit, too, if you don't mind).

Note that, after sending me this list, you may still decide that you want to sing on another song (or songs) that you didn't include in your list. That's not a problem, and you should (at that point) just get in touch with the director for that song; you can find the director (and, eventually, the participants) for each song at the URL     http://mlibby.net/hasBeen/assignments.php

Please try to be a little conservative about the songs that you sign up for. When you sign up for one of these harder songs, you're committing to a fair amount of work (witness http://mlibby.net/hasBeen/readiness.php). If it turns out that you're under-utilized, you can always offer to sing on additional songs (as described above).

Note also that alums who are located around Boston and D.C. are likely to be asked to sing on the "nugget" songs which are being focused on in that particular city. But that does NOT mean that those local alums _have_ to sing on those songs, and it DEFINITELY does NOT mean that non-local alums can't sing on those songs. [As a matter of fact, we're pretty much relying on the fact that alums not local to the "nugget" teams will want to sing on some of these songs, or else it may not be feasible to perform them!]

And I'm aware that some of you may have already communicated with other coordinators about what songs you'd be singing. The information you send me won't supersede those conversations; I'm just trying to collect an accurate picture of what songs people think they will be able & willing to sing on, to guide some decisions that we need to make soon.

----

Once you send this information to me, we will start dealing with ~everything at the per-song/local level, and so you can to expect to see much fewer (and smaller) emails from me. Thanks for your patience so far, and please send your song list as soon as possible.
