I write these cheesy little "update" things so that folks who care about me can know (approximately) what's going on in my life. I'm the sort of person who doesn't always take enough time to stay in close touch with all my old friends and with family (that would take a lot of time), so writing these updates helps a bit (if only to let other folks know that, yes, I'm still alive).
I don't consider the updates to constitute a "blog" (thank goodness... that term is, for some reason, really annoying), but I'm not sure why. Perhaps because I don't write updates with nearly enough regularity and topical "purity" for them to be interesting. My updates are more like an installment-based version of your typical "Christmas card letter" sort of thing, with a lot more minutiae thrown in.
You can see a compilation of all the updates I've made since roughly February 2002. Eventually I'll take the time to compile and publish a nice leather-bound edition of all my updates, with some insightful footnotes and a well-written, entertaining introduction by William F. Buckley, Jr.
